Gazeley hands over 387,500 sq ft building at G.Park Karlsruhe / Kandel

Frankfurt, April 15, 2009 – Global provider of sustainable logistics space, Gazeley, today handed over a 387,500 sq ft building located at G. Park Karlsruhe / Kandel to the ZUFALL logistics group. The shed will be used by their 100% subsidiary company Logistec to provide logistics services for a leading global automotive supplier. The building is the latest property of four to be developed by Gazeley for the successful German transport and logistics provider.

Despite difficult weather conditions the construction works were completed prior to the agreed date.

Jürgen Wolpert, Director at ZUFALL logistics group comments, “This cutting edge logistics centre marks a further milestone in our strategy to expand our contract logistics business, where we are targeting a turnover of 25 million EURO in 2012.”

The site is located in the industrial area of Kandel in South-West Germany, with direct access to the A65 motorway. The “Metropolitan Area Rhein-Neckar” is one of the strongest regions of Germany from an economic and demographic point of view; its robust industrial and manufacturing sector has an average export quota of 56%.

“We are very pleased to facilitate the expansion of ZUFALL group by providing them with this large-scale logistics building”, said Ingo Steves, Director at Gazeley Germany GmbH. “This is also a positive signal for the property market.”

A number of sustainable features have been incorporated at G.Park Kandel. These include an ecological drainage concept for the 12.2 hectares of land, whereby twelve interlinked cisterns allow rainwater to drain into the ground. In line with Gazeley’s sustainability standards the sanitary and heating installations have been designed to reduce the amount of water consumed, while heat recovery facilities will save additional energy.

This represents the fourth deal since 2004 between Gazeley and the ZUFALL logistics groups, to be followed shortly by the completion of a fifth project in Fulda, Germany.
