Global logistics provider appoints Oczkowski to launch business in Poland

Gazeley, the global provider of sustainable logistics space, has today unveiled plans to enter into Central and Eastern European markets with the appointment of Tomasz Oczkowski to head up the company’s new operations in Poland.

Already a global player in the logistics warehouse market following recent growth into China, India and Mexico, today’s move will strengthen Gazeley’s international presence enabling the company to serve an extended customer community worldwide.

Tomasz Oczkowski joins Gazeley from Wincanton, where he held the position of Logistics & Business Development Director CEE. With more than 12 years experience in the logistics market, previously at Logistic & Distribution Systems before moving to Wincanton is 2000, Oczkowski has built extensive knowledge and expertise in the Real Estate sector and in identifying and developing new business opportunities.

Gazeley recognises Poland as a key market for growth and today’s announcement signals the first phase of its plans to develop its presence within Central and Eastern Europe. In 2007, 1 million m² of modern warehouse space was built in the Polish market and the total stock of modern warehouse space increased to over 4 million m² after the first quarter of the year.

Nick Redwood, UK and CEE Managing Director of Gazeley, said, “This business decision is a natural next step for Gazeley’s European operations based on strong economic potential in Poland, which will allow us to better serve existing customers as well as generate new business streams for the company as a whole. Our initial expansion strategy will be actively seeking out potential land acquisitions during the coming months for speculative developments.

“Gazeley is renowned for providing occupiers and investors with the very best in quality, cost-effective sustainable warehouses. I am confident that with his proven track record of success within the Central and Eastern European markets and building on our solid relationship with Wincanton and other customers, Tomasz is the right person to spearhead the long term strategy for Gazeley.”

Tomasz Oczkowski added, “Gazeley has a unique proposition in delivering sustainable warehousing. It has taken huge strides in reducing the environmental footprint of the global supply chain, whilst also delivering major cost savings to its customers. Combined with its experience and reputation, I believe Gazeley is well placed to become a key player in the Central and Eastern European market whilst making a positive contribution to the new and existing countries in which it operates.”
