Our sustainable
story:
The simple fact is that many of our customers require their warehouse buildings to demonstrate excellent environmental performance
Gazeley’s buildings already exceed regulatory requirements and will continue to do so in the future; not only are our warehouses best in class for sustainability, but are cheaper for our customers to operate and to maintain.
Our commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainable development began over 20 years ago when we commenced the development of Magna Park Lutterworth in the UK, a development which is Europe’s largest dedicated distribution park. Magna Park Lutterworth is home to more than 25 companies and more than 7,500 jobs have been created.

G.Park Blue Planet Chatterley Valley

We have planted over 1 million trees
The parkland setting features extensive landscaping and we have planted over 1 million trees, and in addition we also pioneered the use of environmental technologies such as biological waste water treatment.

We understand now more clearly than ever before that the financial performance of our Company, like most other Companies, can be enhanced by lowering the environmental and social impacts created by our development activities.
With this understanding we set out to deliver the most environmentally advanced warehouses in the world by working with our supply chain partners to drive industry leading change. Our “Eco-Template” document sets out the roadmap, and we continue to share our experiences and learning with our customers and competitors alike as we continue on the journey.
The “Eco-Template” had an immediate impact with the launch of our first eco-project in the UK at G.Park Bedford in 2003. This project was the first of many that have now been successfully delivered for customers across Europe, China and the middle east.
Gazeley Eco Template

Gazeley are now recognised across the world for delivering industry leading warehouse buildings that continuously exceed our original environmental aspirations while supporting our customers business operations in many effective ways.

reduces CO2 emissions by 39%
energy usage by 40%
water usage by 61%
Our journey of continuous improvement led us in 2007 to the delivery of a 60,000 sq m building for John Lewis.
The development reduced CO₂ emissions by 39%, energy usage by 40% and water usage by 61%, as a consequence of which the building is £238,000 per annum cheaper for our customer to run.

If true sustainability means complete mitigation of all the negative impacts to the planet and its people caused by business then a defining challenge of our times is how we can achieve this without putting ourselves out of business.
A good place to start is to learn from nature’s systems which are the opposite of ours in so many ways - co operative, collaborative, ecological and creating no waste.
